A great way to declutter your home is to go through your cupboard and take out any blankets, sheets, and towels you don’t use anymore. Do this in the lead up to winter, and you’ll not only have more cupboard space, but you’ll be able to help local rescue animals stay warm until they are adopted or released into the wild. Win-win!

You will be surprised at how much you’re holding onto in the home that you don’t use anymore, and it feels great to free up some storage space.

Some rescue/adoption centres may be in need of specific items, so if you’re unsure of where to start give them a call. Most don’t accept cushions or pillows, so keep this in mind, but if you have any other unwanted pet items such as bowls, toys, cat litter, canned food etc. most centres would love to receive these items as well.

Once you’ve decided what you want to donate, take your clean pre-loved blankets/sheets/towels and any other goodies to your local animal shelter or rescue centre. You have just given a rescue animal a warmer winter!

I did a clean out in my own home in the lead up to winter thinking I might be able to find a couple of towels we no longer use…I was amazed at how much I found. This is the result:
